Deacon Joseph Michalak

After 23 years as Director of Diaconate Formation for the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Archbishop Bernard Hebda asked Deacon Michalak to take on a newly created role to implement the Archdiocese’s three-year synod, form missionary disciples, and form future formators. He continues teaching at the St. Paul Seminary and in the Archdiocese’s Catechetical Institute and School of Prayer, writes for The Deacon, and preaches retreats throughout the United States, Canada, and Ireland. Deacon Michalak and his Scottish wife Anne have five children, and he serves the Little Sisters of the Poor in St. Paul.
