Volunteer

Making the Moment Happen

We are looking for individuals who would like to serve as volunteers to make this historical gathering a great success! Would you like to offer your talents as a volunteer at the National Eucharistic Congress? There are two different ways to do so! Read below for detailed information.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Staff

Time Commitment
  • Tuesday, July 16th, 9:00am–Sunday, July 21st, 2:00pm
  • All volunteer staff must arrive in time to attend a mandatory, all-day, in-person training & orientation on Tuesday, July 16th, from 9:00am–5:00pm.
What to expect
  • This is a full-time volunteer role.
  • A great option for those who desire and are able to serve throughout the entire event!
  • Each Volunteer Staff will be placed on a team to serve with others on that team for the duration of the event.
  • Specific duties and volunteer hours will be assigned by your team lead.
  • Available positions can be found in the Volunteer Registration portal.
  • Volunteer Staff do not need to purchase a Congress Pass. As full-time volunteers, they understand they will be working the event rather than attending it. Some roles will experience more programming than others.
  • When not on duty, Volunteer Staff will be able to access and attend available Congress sessions.
  • Lunch and dinner will be provided each day (Tuesday–Sunday).
  • Travel to Indianapolis and accommodations are not provided. Volunteers must make their own arrangements and are responsible for covering travel and accommodation costs.
  • Affordable dorm accommodations are available for volunteers to book at Butler University. See below for housing package information.

Shift Volunteer

Time Commitment
  • Depends on whatever specific shifts and duties you sign up for!
What to expect
  • This is a part-time volunteer role.
  • A great option for Day Pass holders who want to attend some days of the Congress and serve on other days, Full Event Pass holders who want to serve for a few hours while at the event, or individuals who can’t volunteer the whole time but still want to serve in some way.
  • Shift Volunteers do not have access to Congress sessions, exhibits, or other programming. To attend sessions, they must purchase a pass.
  • Travel to Indianapolis, accommodations, and meals are not provided for shift volunteers.
  • Specific shifts and needs can be found in the Volunteer Registration portal.

Volunteer Requirements

  • All volunteers must attend a virtual training on July 1st at 8:00pm EST.
  • Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Some positions require a minimum age, physical ability, or bilingual capability.
  • All volunteers must complete Safe Environment training and clear a background check.
  • For volunteers who do not yet have Safe Environment clearance, specific instructions for completing this process online will be provided in the volunteer registration form.
  • Volunteers who have already received Safe Environment clearance through the Archdiocese of Indianapolis or the Diocese of Lafayette will be able to indicate that during the registration process.
  • Volunteers who have already received Safe Environment clearance through another (arch)diocese must complete and submit this form (signed by their pastor) during the registration process.
  • Available volunteer roles, shifts, and needs can be found by clicking the registration button below.
  • Please contact NECVolunteers@eucharisticcongress.org if you have any questions.

Volunteer Housing Package

Dorm bed housing at Butler University is an affordable accommodation option for volunteers traveling in from outside of Indianapolis. A limited number of beds are available and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

Dates: Arrival Monday, July 15th. Departure Sunday, July 21st.
Cost: $330 total per person
Includes: Double-occupancy dorm accommodations for 6 nights, linens, breakfast at the dining hall Thursday–Sunday mornings, and a daily shuttle between Butler and downtown from 6–8am and downtown back to Butler from 10pm–midnight. Outside of these provided hours, each volunteer is responsible for their own transportation back and forth.
Additional Nights: Extra nights (for early arrival and/or late stay) can be added on to the package for an additional fee of $40 per person per night. Breakfast is not included for those days. These additional nights are subject to availability at the time of the request.
As there are a limited number of beds, each housing request will be considered in the order it is received. The latest deadline to register for these accommodations is May 24th, but be aware that beds may sell out prior to then, so don’t wait to submit your request.
After submitting the housing registration form, you will be notified within 72 hours regarding the availability of accommodations. If confirmed, an invoice for payment will be sent, and payment must be received within 2 weeks of confirmation to secure the beds or else they may be allocated to others. If you have any questions, please contact us at housingrequests@eucharisticcongress.org.
